Royal Island Beach Club

Last Friday, hubs and I spent the day at Royal Island Beach Club located at Lebanon Island, one of the many islands that make up The World Archipelago. This first commecial development in the World is an exclusive beach club which comprises of a restaurant with indoor/outdoor dining, beach/swim area, swimming pool, day use chalets and an event and function area.
Soon as we got to the island, we were greeted by the very helpful Ana Ungureanu who advised us to quickly find a sunbed under the cabanas because they get taken pretty fast.
We found a couple at the edge of the island (away from the loud lounge music), ordered our drinks and relaxed.
When we got tired of sitting around, we went swimming in the pool, played some table tennis and beach volleyball.
Once the sun sets on the island the music quickly turns into party mode.

Pros: The boat ride to and from the island overlooking the modern Dubai skyline. Beautiful people. Relaxing day by the beach under the cabanas with an ice-cold "hop-based drink".

Cons:  There is definitely a few things this resort could work on but the most important thing is the service. Their wait staff need to get it together. And about every hour the power turns off due to generator failure. Also, the resort could use more canopies or shade.

Tips: If you're going there as a couple, make sure you bring a lot of things that will keep you busy while lounging around (deck of cards, magazines, etc.) as they don't actually sell stuff like that on the island.

All in all, we had a nice time. Hubs and I were looking for an alternative beach experience which is what we got.
