NOTD: NYX Nail Polish in "Silver Plum"

Hello there everyone! Might I interest you with some plum? Silver Plum, that is! This dark purple shimmer is perfect for ordinary days in the office. It gives you a touch of color without going over the top. Really nice if you’re tired of the usual red nail polish for work. I've been using it for three days now and so far, with all the typing I do plus the usual dishwashing in hot water, it stands up pretty well. A bit of tipwear going on but no major chipping. Again, photo taken without topcoat. See how shiny it is? Fabulous. That's all.

Sephora Bue Nail Polishes Swatches & Review

Blue has been popping up all over the runway this Fall/Winter 2009/2010. Versace, Gucci, Marc Jacobs, and a bunch of other designers all featured different shades of blue in their collections. Here's a nail swatch of stuff I recently got from Sephora:

Bright navy jelly. I like this kind of blue - dark without looking black. Just the right dose of blue I need. Although, I did need to do three coats of it because it still looks sheer when I finished applying the second coat.

Bright deep blue cream. Like all cream polishes, it's streaky on the first coat but once you do the second coat (or third, if you really enjoy polish application - like me) it's very very glossy. I super love this color and seems like everyone does too coz it's already out of stock on their website.
Dark navy blue lacquer with chunky blue and silver glitter. This shade came from Sephora's new glittering nail polish line and is constanly being compared to discontinued hit Essie Starry Starry Nights.

And guess what, all the pics here are taken without topcoat - talk about high glossy! It's also got good drying time. Although, I'm not a fan of:
  1. THE SMELL - It's really strong and overwhelming -it reminded me of rubber cement.
  2. THE SIZE - It's too small! I think AED 29 ($7) for a 5ml bottle is kind of too much for a store brand - compared to NYX's 14ml polishes which you can get for just AED16 ($4).
  3. THE FLAT SQUARE BRUSH - It was hard to maneuver especially around the cuticle area.
All in all, it's pretty good to have this in your nail polish collection because they're such good colors to have around and if you don't mind icky smelling polish. But try to check it out at the store first if you're trying to buy online to see if it lives up to your expectations.

Oh yeah, I also got a pack of Sephora Nail Patch in "Faultless Purple". I'll tell you all about it once I try it on. Plus, I know I promised an entry on my recent Clarins Haul which I will duly post soon. That's a lot of stuff guys so make sure you watch out for it.

NYX Nail Polish in "Secret" and "Juliet"

I've heard good reviews about NYX Cosmetics and that they have really nice nail polishes so you could only imagine how excited I was when I found they had a booth at Lifestyle. Here's a couple of them I've tried so far;
Now, I absolutely love this color. Normally when I wear dark polish it ends up looking dirty. But this one was different looked perfect. Maybe it was the glitter.
This one's a pain to take a photograph because it's so different in person. It's sort of a hologram turquoise. It's blue, green, pink, yellow... it's everything. Nice.

I know I've been behind on my entries but I've got good reason for it. I'm doing this major post about my recent Clarins haul. I'll tell you all about it next post. Until then, au revoir!

Elianto Nail Polish + Nail Art & MAC Hello Kitty Line

I chucked a sickee today.. I've been down with the flu since yesterday morning. One of my tonsils are swollen, and I have a slight fever. But my nose has stopped running, thank goodness. Eww. TMI. Maybe that's why I've been a bit of a scatterbrain at work this week.

Anyway, despite feeling like crap I still have the motivation to do my nails today. Nothing like the painting fresh polish on my nails to keep me from actually feeling under the weather (even though I am - well, you get what I mean...)

I first stumbled upon Korean brand Elianto in a small booth at Al Gurhair CentreWhen I moved to Dubai two years ago. Everything was unbelievably cheap - I'm embarrased to say but I like it. I walked away with white eyeliner and a new sharpener for my lip liner. I saw the nail polish but didn't really pay any attention to it; but during my recent visit to the Philippines, I found it again in my mom's nail polish kit. I fell in love with the colors, especially the glittery ones. My sisters highly recommended it and so I bought a whole bunch of them the next day (plus a 10 eyeshadow refill pallete, 4 shimmer shadows, & 1 frosted pigment). I also fell in love WITH THE PRICE - ONLY about $2 (Php99 at Landmark). So far, I've only tried two of them;
Elianto Nail Lacquer in Glitter Shine Red - Base coat, 1 coat of color & 2 coats of topcoat. I love how this color is opaque with just one coat. And it's so glossy like jelly.
Elianto Nail Lacquer in Candy Pink + Elianto 3D Nail Stickers - Base coat, 2coats of colour, nail stickers & 2 coats of topcoat. This color is kind of sheer so I had to put 2 coats of it.
A Closer Look - Uh-oh Mental note: glittery nail sticker + glittery nail polish + camera= blurry nail photo. But I still think it looks cute in person.
I sort of like the formula. It's the right consistency and most of the colors can go with just 1 coat. It doesn't chip and lasts all week long. The only thing I don't like about it is that it doesn't dry that fast. It takes more that an hour for it to be bone dry - no streaks, no smell, no dents. And it PEELS really easily (if you try to do it) - I dunno if that's good or bad. What do you guys think? All in all, it's pretty good for a cheap brand. Of course, you can't really compare it with OPI or China Glaze. Would I buy it again? If they come up with another shade of pink or some other cool color, sure why not?
I absolutely love Pink. Nothing says Spring like pink does, no matter what new color comes out to claim the throne. For me, Pink will always be Queen. Speaking of pink. HELLO KITTY!!! This is kind of late, I know, but MAC came up with a Hello Kitty Line. It's already out in the US since February 15 but it won't be available in the shelves here in Dubai probably until late this March. I CAN'T WAIT! In the meantime, I'd just have to make do with this:
I got this fridge magnet from my parents when they went to Japan. Don't you guys love it? I haven't stuck a picture in it yet, I'm still thinking which one to put. I lurv it!! Do you?
