Christmas Shopping List: Marc by Marc Jacobs Latin Leather Bracelet

Hello everyone!

There's only 32 days left before Christmas and I haven't even started on my shopping yet. OK, so everyday I'll let you guys in on some of the stuff I've come up with so far to give you some ideas for your own shopping list - just don't tell them shhhh... it's our little secret.

Today's gift is for my loving partner. I'm getting us a pair of this Latin Leather Bracelet from Marc by Marc Jacobs. It originally costs only $7 (2008) but now it costs more than double that on E-bay - insane! I'd still get it though, coz I love the message. I'm gonna get this one saying Inter Nos meaning "between us".

Tonight, I'm gonna meet other Dubai bloggers to discuss how to make the Dubai blogging scene a lot more fun. First project is Dubai Street Style! Watch out for that.

OOTD Black Playsuit New Moon Outfit

Hi everyone, I hope you enjoyed your long weekend. I watched New Moon last Thursday with this outfit.

I got this playsuit from Covent Garden Market at the Dubai Marina Walk. I receive a lot of compliments for this one and it's very unfortunate that I lost the business card of the designer who made this outfit. If someone can recognize it, please leave a comment so I can send my props accordingly.

I accented the whole look with a belt that came along jeans I bought at Woolworths from my Oz trip, my favorite Nine West Shoes and Buddha Beads my mom got for me on one of our Divisoria (flea market in Manila) trips.

I paired it up with this cropped tweed jacket I got from Forever21 coz can be quite chilly most of the time so it's very handy.

Sephora In A Box Oh My Gold Ultimate Blockbuster Limited Editition Make-up Pallette

Whew! That was a mouthful! LOL So I couldn't get over the fact that I didn't miss work for the Jimmy Choo for H&M launch and silly of me to think there will be stocks left. So on I went to Dubai Mall after work, and all that was left was the blue suede dress in Large and a few men's shoes and a handful of wallets. I asked the SA if there was gonna be another batch of items coming in and she gave me an abrupt "no" smiling smirking and laughing at me from her inside. Everything was gone in an hour! I was absolutely devastated!

So to console my myself, I headed over to Sephora for some retail therapy where I found this baby.

It includes:

♦ 84 Eyeshadows
♦ 60 Lipglosses
♦ 6 Blushes
♦ 1 Lipliner
♦ 1 Eyeliner
♦ 7 Crappy Makeup Brushes & Applicators which I would eventually throw away
♦ Instruction Manual

And here's the swatch:

Review: I have mixed reactions with this palette. The value for me is OK since it offers a lot of color variations that I can play with. When it comes to quality, this pallette is kind of disappointing considering it's from Sephora and they normally have better quality shadow palettes. Some of the shadows were a bit cakey and powdery in texture. Some colors were not very pigmented although, I could easily get a higher color if I need something a bit darker. I noticed that the palette on the right side was better in texture and more true to their color than the ones in the left.

The blushes are different story. I love the texture, the coverage, the color everything! I see myself using all these off more than the rest of the palette.

The lipglosses have a lot of variations in terms of color like the shadows. Texture is pretty OK. I'm not really that much interested in it that's why I didn't swatch it as I prefer my tube lippies. I might have second thoughts, though, if they made them flavored.

So there you go. It a good gift to give your loved ones (or yourself) this holiday season. It's very good for travellers especially if you don't like lugging around cluttery single shadows and things.

Better Late Than Never: MAC Hello Kitty Brush Set Review

I know this is a bit (ok, a LOT) overdue but I just had to share it with you guys. When MAC unveiled their new Hello Kitty collection and I saw this cutesy brush set I just knew I gotta have it. I mean, who doesn't love Hello Kitty, right?  So I eagerly waited for the Dubai release since it came out in the US around February and snatched it out of the MAC lady's hands straight away. So here it is:

The brush case is adorable and very functional. It now holds most of my brushes.

Also called the stippling brush - you can use this with liquid or powder foundation for an "airbrushed" look. Just (lightly) pat pat pat! I'll do a tutorial on this later. Disappointment: When I took it out of the plastic, some of the bristles started falling off!! *shock horror* But I used it a few times and fortunately the shedding died down. Only, I wish the bristles were a bit denser and less unruly.

Used for applying, blending and contouring powders. Unsurprisingly, I found this brush of no use to me at all! The bristles fall out excessively and it's a bit too hard on my skin. Plus it's not as rounded as the MAC 109 brush sold individually. Nothing much to say, really...

Out of the whole set, this is the one that I use the most. I try to wash it after every use because I'm scared to stain the white hairs. It pretty much does the job as far as application goes I use a different brush for blending as this one's quite stiff. There was also a bit of shedding when I first use it.

I've always found that brushes included in MAC limited edition sets are not as good as their individual handmade ones. So if you are looking for a brush right now, I would suggest investing on the good quality brushes and not the sets.

By the way I would like to congratulate Jen of frmheadtotoe for winning the Bodyshop's Holiday Party Winter Makeup Tutorial Contest! Her blog is a must-read!

That's it for now... Toodles!

OOTD for Thursday 19.11.09

Shirt - Forever 21
Pencil Skirt - Cinderella (Philippines)
Gladiators - Nine West
Nails - Rimmel Coralicious

OFF-TOPIC RANT: I called a taxi from work at around 4:30pm last Thursday and I kept following it up until 6pm but all in vain - even the Taxi Dubai trunkline was busy. I had to hitch a ride home from one of my co-workers. I tried cancelling the booking but the call center was still busy so I didn't bother anymore. Come Friday night at my friend's engagement party and I get a call from an unregistered number - "Ma'am you called taxi?"

Unbelievable, by the time my taxi gets there I'd be curled up in a corner under my desk. I'm just wondering if it's just me or is everyone having problems with Dubai Taxi lately?

Jimmy Choo for H&M and OOTD for Tuesday &Wednesday

OMG OMG OMG OMG! Mark your calendars girls: November 19 (Thursday) - H&M is launching Jimmy Choo for H&M! For the first time, Jimmy Choo has designed clothing to complement the bags, shoes and accessories for this collection. Aaah! I'm so excited I'm drooling! And since this collection is in very high demand they're going military style with their queuing and shopping system.
The first 160 people in line will receive a bracelet; on the bracelet you will be given a specific time for shopping in our designated area. The bracelets are only needed for the women’s shoes, bags and accessories. Customers shopping the men’s collection or the women’s garments will not require a bracelet.

When your time has come, we will let you into the designated area to shop. Our goal is to create a better shopping experience for all of our customers.

If you are not one of the 160 first in line, you will of course have the opportunity to shop from the rest of the collection or within H&M. After about two hours we will also open up the designated area for all of our customers.

To make sure as many customers as possible are able to buy from the Jimmy Choo for H&M collection, we have a limitation. Every customer can buy the whole collection but with a limitation of buying maximum one per product, i.e. not more than one size (shoes/garments) or piece (accessories) per product per customer. The limitation covers the whole Jimmy Choo for H&M Collection. Your place in line does not guarantee any items from the Jimmy Choo for H&M collection. - H&M U.A.E.
Hmm... no fun! What if you wanted to buy people gifts? No matter, I'll definitely be there.

OK, so here are the outfits I wore for Tuesday:

Grey Knitted Tunic - Pimkie
Black Tank Top - New Look
Red Garter Belt - Forever21
Black High Waisted Skirt - Cinderella (Philippines)

and Wednesday

White Ruffle Collared Tunic - Kisses & Co. (Philippines)
Black Leggings - Zara
White Gladiator Sandals - Charles & Keith
Tattoo Collection Boston Bag - Gucci

Hope you liked it!

1-Day Acuvue Define + Weekend Nail Swatch

Hey there! I've been busy as a bee this week coz of a few little accidents i had car crash and computer crash but fortunately no one got hurt and everything is slowly going back into place.

I have a lot of goodies in store for you guys today. First off: contacts. Since I started wearing glasses (which, although pretty, can be such a hassle to wear) I'm also starting to experiment with the right contact lenses. My optometrist recommended 1-Day Acuvue Define which,I was told, was developed specially for the Asian market. Sort of like circle lenses which have a large limbal ring to enhance the iris and make the eyes appear larger and doll-like. She gave me one week samples of both Vivid and Accent styles to try out.

1-Day Acuvue Define in Vivid Style

1-Day Acuvue in Accent Style

Here's what Accent looks like on my eyes in natural light

and with flash.

Unfortunately, since I used my Vivid ones during a very busy week, I wasn't able to take photos but I'm sure to purchase them again (coz they brighten up my eyes better than Accent) and will duly update this post.
For those of you who are wondering, I'm wearing:

- MAC Eye Khol in Smolder
- Revlon Colorstay Eyeshadow Pallette in Copper Spice
- MAC Liquid Eyeliner in Boot Black
- Stila Major Lash Mascara
- MAC Eyeshadow in Rice Paper on the tear ducts
Second: I did swatches of the new nail polishes I got during the past few weeks and there are lots! So let's get right down to it, shall we?

Black cream polish. Very opaque with one coat and true to it's name, dries in less than 60seconds. As with all dark colors, kind of tricky to apply but the pro-cision brush makes the task at hand (pardon the pun) easier.

Coral cream polish (sort of orangey dark pink - almost red). I got this baby during my trip to Australia last June and I was sporting it the whole time. Just the pop of color I need for a crisp winter afternoon in Sydney. My beau's mom liked it when she saw it on me so I offered to do her nails with it as well. She said that she never thought such a bold color would suit her and it did! The polish went a bit clumpy on the brush by the time I started painting my toenails, maybe coz it was winter. It lasted for days with minimal tipwear.

Love love love this color. I would recommend it for everyday especially for people like me who spend their time in the office typing the day away coz it doesn't chip for over a week. It's very looks very natural and has a sort of creamy transluscent finish just enough to give your nails a clean and polished look. I like doing mine with two coats that still shows a bit of nail line which keeps it from looking chalky. Drying time: 5minutes (no dents)

Greenish teal cream polish. I stumbled upon these colors at the check-out counter in Forever21. It's a bit confusing because they don't have the color descriptions on the bottle so I had to look them up online but apart from that, nothing to complain about, really. I just love the formula because it's so opaque and pigmented and glides easily when you apply it. The color is really really bright and more on the green side with just a tiny tinge of blue.

Navy blue cream polish. This shade is perfect for F/W2009!! Check out similar shades on my previous post here. Same formula as Tropical - very smooth, pigmented and quick drying. I also wear this to work a lot and it matches with most of my outfits.

I hope everyone had a nice weekend! Toddles! xoxo
