Uneven Eyelids + Daiso Eyelid Tape Review

Hi guys! You might have noticed in my previous eye product reviews that I have uneven eyelids and, as it turns out, I'm not alone. This condition happens to all ethnicities but is really common among people with Asian eyelid types.

If you look at the chart below, my left eye falls under category E which has multiple eyelid creases and my right eye falls under category D which has a partial crease.

Normally, I would use a few make-up tricks like applying a thicker eyeliner on my right eyelid than on my left, giving the illusion of evenness. But of course, when I look down, you will definitely notice the difference. So I was so excited when I found that Daiso had eyelid tapes in their beauty aisle!

I know that the use of eyelid tape/glue touches a raw nerve for some people since they deem it as something that promotes Westernization and something that "erases your race", so to speak. Don't even get me started on eyelid surgery. Asian Blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) is most common in East Asian women and is quite controversial due to the fact that, unlike breast augmentation or liposuction, this surgery targets an ethnic group.

But for me personally, I think eyelid tape/glue is a genius invention - not a means of looking more "Caucasian", but rather, something that could help me correct my facial symmetry.

So what is eyelid tape and how does it work? Basically it is a thin strip of adhesive tape which is placed just below your natural eyelid crease. When the tape pushes back into the eye socket, it sticks and keeps some of the skin back which creates a crease.

I got this one from Daiso made of matte plastic tape, similar to the ones we use around the office.

It contains 3 sheets (10 pairs each) of eyelid tape and the Y-shaped applicator.

This is my first time using eyelid tape and couldn't wait to see the results. I'm only using this on my right eye since my left one already has multiple creases.

I was a little bit frustrated with this tape though. First of all, it was a struggle just to peel the thin strips off the sheet. Then when applied, the tape keeps falling off after thoroughly cleaning my skin. And although it is matte, I found it hard to hide under my eyeliner and was still quite visible. So this one is a  big FAIL!

But I'm not giving up. I might have some luck with tapes made of paper or double sided adhesives. Has anyone got any tips on which brand works well?

Beauty Finds: Diaso

Hello everyone! I hope you guys had a lovely weekend. I would just like to share with you some really affordable but useful beauty finds I bought recently at Daiso. When they opened a store in my neighborhood I was soooo excited - Daiso is my shopping heaven for Asian-y, pretty things all for AED 7.00 (unless indicated with a price tag).

Everytime I go there, I always plan to get a couple of items but end up leaving with more! But of course, the key to shopping at Daiso is to have a mental spending limit. I always make it a point to spend only up to AED100 max in one visit so if I end up not using some of the purchases, it's OK because I didn't pay that much for it anyway.

So here's the damage:

Eyebrow Stencils (AED 7.00) - a really great shaping tool for your brows especially if you do not have the patience or the eye to create the perfect brow shape. I love that it comes in 4 different shapes so it gives variation on the look that you want. All you need is this and some eyebrow powder or brown eyeshadow et voila! Perfectly groomed brows. Definitely a more affordable alternative to other expensive brow shaping kits out there. *cough* Beautiful Brows *cough*

False Eyelashes (AED 20.00) - Daiso definitely has a vast selection of false lashes in different volumes and lengths depending on your taste. I chose this crisscross lashes with volume on the sides for a more natural look.

False Eyelash Glue (AED 7.00) - I love the consistency of this glue and the fact that it is clear so it just disappears when applied. I used this with the false lashes on the whole day and it didn't budge at all. Removal is a very easy with some makeup remover and doesn't leave any residue.

Curl Setting Clips (AED 7.00) - These are a bit expensive for setting clips and I could probably buy this outside for cheaper but I just bought this out of necessity since regular pins are not doing the job. I needed the clips. They were there. End of story.

Eyelid Tape (AED 7.00) - What is this? This is probably the most popular beauty tool used by Asian women to fix uneven eyelids or to make their eyes seem rounder and larger. I got this because if you probably noticed on some of my previous posts, I have uneven eyelids. My right eye is a monolid and the left eye has multiple creases. I'll explain more about this on my next post.

For now, Ciao Bellas!

Review: Modelco Fibre Lash Brush On False Lashes

One of the issues I have (and I'm sure I'm not alone in this) is my thin and delicate downward-pointing lashes. So I am constantly on the lookout for new products that could help add a little bit more dramatic volume and length to my lashes.

During the week, our friends from Cosmetology emailed me about ModelCo Fibre Lash Brush on False Lashes and sent me a sample to try. Fibre Lash extends and builds your own lashes to extreme lengths acting like instant lash extensions.

The Fibre Lash Kit comes with 2 tubes: The Lash Fibre which contains dry nylon fibers with a thin wand. It adheres to your lash follicles after an application of the Extension Mascara adding "extreme length";
and the Extension Mascara is a waterproof formula with a shaped fiber wand which they claim is "lightweight, smudge and clump-free".
Application:
Step 1: After curling your lashes, apply a single coat of Extension Mascara.
Step 2: Apply a coat of Lash Fibres. Wait 20-30 seconds.
Step 3: Finish with a coat of Extension Mascara.
The Lash Fibre kept it's promise with more length than the usual mascara. But the Extension Mascara was a bit of a letdown (no pun inteneded) - it weighed down my lashes and did not hold the curl - it was a heavy clumpy mess. *sigh*

I did a take two, making sure that I used my mascara brush to separate the lashes for a more natural look. Success! More volume, more length, more natural looking lashes (tapered on the ends).
Here it is on my other eye
Removal is a breeze with some makeup remover and/or cleansing wipes. I used Cetaphil Non Irritating Cleanser and Cool & Cool Make-up Removing Wipes - melts it off like butter.

Fibre Lash is available for delivery throughout the UAE on www.fibrelashme.com(Cash on Delivery basis).
Try it out and let me know what you think.
